SNV started in Bangladesh in 2006 to design impact-oriented and future scalable programmes to help turn poverty into prosperity. As the private sector in Bangladesh is recognised as a strong partner in economic growth and development, we focus on private sector engagement along with institutional development, and local ownership of programmes.
Bangladesh is one of the world's most density populated countries with 16 million people, 31.5% of which live in poverty. We support people to access and develop the capabilities, services and opportunities needed to live a fulfilling life, while sustainably using the natural resources they depend on. We do not offer funding, but specialise in supporting the resourcefulness of development actors: together we make markets work for the poor.
