The power generated is being transferred through mini grids to households for domestic use.

SNV Nepal brought its earlier engagements in the Improved Water Mill sector to the next level by successfully piloting a business model for adding an electrification component to the technology.

The power generated is being transferred through mini grids to households for domestic use and to selected micro-entrepreneurs for income generating end-use applications.

The programme developed a new business model for promoting IWM community electrification technology and aims to develop the capacity of watermill owners, IWM kit manufacturers, service centres and Ghatta Owners associations for scaling at the national level.
