In many countries, sanitation service delivery is fragmented and fails to deliver minimal service standards. And those without access to improved sanitation lack the means and influence to change their situation. Our Sustainable Sanitation & Hygiene for All product runs across 15 countries and reaches more than 10 million people.

We build the capacity of local governments and other stakeholders to steer and implement rural sanitation demand creation at scale, engage private sector in developing the sanitation supply chain, and work with health agencies to develop skills for effective hygiene behaviour change communication (BCC). We also work with schools, and on menstrual hygiene management. We promote local multi-stakeholder collaboration, alignment, planning and targeting of vulnerable groups.

WASH in Schools
Our WASH in Schools initiative tackles the structural causes behind non-sustainability of WASH services in schools. It promotes improved awareness of sanitation and hygiene amongst primary and secondary age pupils, with a key focus on menstrual hygiene management, in order to improve school enrolment and retention rates.

Menstrual Hygiene Management
We believe that girls' educational performance can be directly improved through better menstrual hygiene management (MHM) in their schools. Girls in Control is a comprehensive package, concentrating on provision of appropriate, girl-friendly water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools, timely information about MHM and improved access to sanitary materials.
