Call for applications: urban sanitation research in Tanzania

SNV in Tanzania is currently in search of a research consultant -- national or international -- who will carry out a Legal Scan on Urban Sanitation, focusing on existing Standards/Regulations/Policies (and their enforcement) in the Tanzanian regions of Arusha and Shinyanga.

The consultancy assignment will commence during the month of June 2018, and will be carried out as part of SNV's WASH SDG Programme. The WASH SDG Programme is a five-year consortium-wide multi-country initiative that started in 2017. The programme aims to sustainably improve access to and use of sanitation services and improve hygiene behaviours in programme implementation areas.

In Tanzania, the programme will contribute to achieving access to safely-managed sanitation and improved hygiene behaviour for 160,000 and 200,000 people in Shinyanga and Arusha respectively. Working with municipal governments -- inclusive, safe and sustainable city-wide sanitation services are expected to be developed.

The succesful candidate's Legal Scan on Urban Sanitation output will help inform WASH SDG Programme implementation in Tanzania, and shape the development of specific FSM interventions relevant to the two target cities.
