Training course on silviculture techniques

Training course on silviculture techniques

A training course on silviculture techniques for sustainable forest recovery and forest management was organised by the ENRICH project in collaboration with Ke Go Nature Reserve in Ha Tinh province, Vietnam, which was attended by technical staff of the reserve and local farmers.

The training course which is part of the ENRICH project was held at the field with a “learning by doing” approach. The trainers and trainees conducted intensive discussion on various silviculture techniques applied to different local contexts. The trainees had a chance to practice the field work in project pilot area, putting the theory they had learned into practice with coaching from the project technical staff.

As a result of the learning event, farmers have been equipped with the knowledge on identification of forest development stages, and what to do at each stage. A test in the last day of training showed 62% of participants reaching a very good level of understanding of silviculture techniques needed for recovery of degraded forests.
