Purpose of the Job
SNV is seeking a dynamic and pragmatic professional to support SNV in delivering impactful, high-quality, compliant, and well-managed projects. The Contracting and Compliance Coordinator is part of Operations within a country.
The Contracting and Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the contracting processes and ensuring compliance with legal and donor regulations. This role involves managing contracts, monitoring compliance, and supporting project teams to ensure adherence to SNV’s and donor policies and procedures.
Job Description
Operation delivery:
Contract Review and Compliance:
- Review contracts to ensure they meet legal, organizational, and donor compliance standards.
- Review, and negotiate contracts and agreements with various stakeholders, including programme representatives, partners, and vendors.
Contract Tracking:
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive tracking system for all contracts.
- Monitor contract performance and compliance throughout the contract lifecycle.
Compliance Monitoring:
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor regulations, and local laws.
- Conduct regular audits of contracts and compliance documents to identify and mitigate risks.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and best practices in contracting and compliance.
Capacity Building:
- Support on development of guidelines and best practices for effective contract management.

Communication and Coordination:
- Facilitate communication regarding contract status, compliance issues, and best practices.
- Act as the focal point for procurement and contracting cases for Specific projects.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on contract status, operational-related compliance issues, and procurement activities for management review.
- Maintain accurate records and archives (soft and hard copy) of procurement processes, contract modifications, and compliance assessments
Management:
- Ensure all disciplinary matters are handled in a fair, transparent, and timely manner and in line with the SNV Ethiopia Human Resource Policy.
- Supervise and provide guidance to the Contracting and Procurement Specialists.
Take up any additional responsibilities assigned by the line manager
Qualifications
Educational Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (procurement and contracting), supply chain management, or CIPS equivalent, and at least five years’ experience in Contracting and Procurement compliance role particularly with USAID, EU or Foundation funded programmes.
- 8 years' work experience in Operations with at least 5 years in Contracting and Procurement.
- Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks related to procurement and contracts.
Additional Skills
- Strong knowledge and skills in procurement techniques within the context of the position.
- Good knowledge of handling Contracting and Compliance systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SharePoint. Experience with ERP systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of donor regulations and compliance issues related to management of donor funds.
- Demonstrated knowledge of country's contractual and legal requirement/law.
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to plan with good organizational skills, including prioritization and ability to work under pressure.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.

Additional Information
Contract Type: National - Full time
This position will be based on donor funding and approval confirmation
Expected start date: 1st March 2025
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Contract Duration: One year with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.
