Job Description

SNV Kenya seeks to engage a driver to provide driving services for its country office in Nairobi. The driver will support project teams in fieldwork, logistics, and other operational needs. Assignments will be made on a need basis depending on field activities and workload.

Responsibilities

The regular driver shall perform the following duties when engaged:

  • Provide safe, timely, and professional transportation services for SNV staff, visitors, and consultants.
  • Drive to project sites and field locations, often under different conditions and terrains, while ensuring the safety of all passengers.
  • Ensure the assigned vehicle is clean, roadworthy, and well-maintained at all times.
  • Conduct routine checks and report any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
  • Verify and maintain the validity of the vehicle’s insurance, inspection certificates, and other statutory documents.
  • Carry out basic mechanical repairs, refuelling, and other routine servicing tasks as required.
  • Accurately maintain the vehicle logbook/work ticket, recording daily mileage, fuel usage, and service history.
  • Adhere to SNV policies and procedures as well as code of conduct.
  • Undertake office errands, such as deliveries and pick-ups, when requested.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or violations involving the vehicle immediately to the relevant SNV staff.
  • Perform any other driving or logistical duties as may be reasonably assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • KCSE level of education, with a good command of English and Swahili
  • Clean driving licence with over 5 years driving experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Defensive driving an added advantage

Reporting Lines

The driver will report to the SNV Fleet and Protocol Officer.
