In Kenya, SNV is implementing several innovative projects in various counties. These projects are offered procurement, administrative and logistical support centrally by the Operations office which is in Nairobi. Many of SNV’s activities are implemented from project offices in Nanyuki, Eldoret and Kakuma. The Operations office is committed to implementing and maintaining the highest standards of efficiency and integrity in all its operations functions. The overriding objective for all administration, procurement and logistical operations is the prompt and effective provision of support services to SNV in Kenya.
Job Description
Reporting to the Country Operations Manager, the procurement assistant will support the procurement and operations functions with the day-to-day procurement, office administration, fleet management activities for the organisation. Working closely with the Country Procurement Officer and Project Managers. Project, operations and finance staff who are involved in requesting and payment of procurements, and operations support.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement
Support with the day-to-day procurement requests from the project teams as guided by the Country Procurement Officer.
Office Administration
Manages stock of office supplies, office equipment and furniture. Liaises with the ICT department for the support of teams at field level, maintains office and equipment to ensure a safe and clean working environment. Ensures payment of utility bills and follows up on any office repairs.
Logistics and Travel
Coordinates logistics and travel for visitors and staff at the project level. Manages SNV Kenya vehicles at field level ensuring all are safe and road-worthy.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in procurement /supply chain management/Business Administration or related field.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili; written and oral.
- Intermediate /advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Some previous experience in procurement not required but preferred
- Experience in SAP By Design not required but preferred
- A fast thinker with creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to take initiative, learn quickly and be accountable for results.
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be goal oriented, dynamic, passionate and self-starter
- A person of integrity
