Company Description

About SNV Proximate
What if you could combine the commercial rigour of consulting, investment, or corporate strategy with the opportunity to create meaningful development impact at scale? SNV’s newly established impact capital accelerator aims to do exactly that: develop commercially viable solutions that generate both business value and development impact. Combining expertise in impact-driven finance and inclusive commercial value chains, SNV Proximate will operate with the pace, ambition, and commercial mindset of a boutique advisory firm while leveraging the reach, credibility, and market presence of a global development organisation.

Working with companies, investors, development finance institutions, foundations, and governments, this is your chance to join the team that will design, test, and grow new approaches to mobilising investment, strengthening markets, and building more inclusive and resilient value chains across emerging economies. It is a place for people who are excited by building something new, comfortable operating across both commercial and development environments, and motivated by turning ambitious ideas into scalable results.

Job Description

Position overview
SNV is building a catalytic commercial accelerator, built to close the gap between capital and impact in markets where both are urgently needed. The Senior Manager for Impact and Intelligence is the intellectual engine within the unit. This role has two distinct but connected responsibilities: delivering client-facing impact measurement as a billable service, and synthesising knowledge across the portfolio to build a body of evidence that sharpens our offer and strengthens our market position.

This is not a back-office role. Impact measurement is a revenue line in its own right — impact investors, DFIs, and corporations with sustainability commitments are increasingly willing to pay for rigorous, credible measurement of their programmes. The right person combines analytical rigour with commercial awareness, and understands that evidence is only valuable if it changes decisions.

SNV holds a significant body of institutional knowledge — proposals, evaluations, programme data, sector evidence — accumulated across 50+ years and 25+ countries. Most of it is inaccessible or underused. This role is responsible for changing that: activating SNV’s knowledge base as a commercial asset, not just an archive.

Who you are
You are a curious and analytical professional who enjoys uncovering insights that help organisations make better decisions. You look beyond the data to understand what is happening, why it matters, and how evidence can be translated into practical action and measurable results.

You combine analytical rigour with commercial awareness. You understand that research, impact measurement, and intelligence create value when they influence strategy, strengthen client relationships, support business growth, or improve development outcomes. You are comfortable working with both quantitative and qualitative data and know when deep analysis is required and when a pragmatic, timely recommendation is the better solution.

You are collaborative, proactive, and enjoy working across disciplines, bringing together perspectives from colleagues, clients, and partners. When you identify important trends, insights, or opportunities, you share them and help others act on them.

Most importantly, you are excited by the opportunity to turn evidence into impact. You identify insights that can be leveraged across the organisation, helping shape new approaches, strengthen market positioning, and inform business development decisions. You are equally motivated by building knowledge systems and intelligence mechanisms that support better future decision-making, reducing uncertainty through the effective use of data, intelligence, and learning.

Key Responsibilities

Client-facing impact measurement

  • Design and deliver impact measurement frameworks for clients — impact investors, blended finance facilities, agribusinesses, and government counterparts.
  • Develop results chains, theories of change, and indicator sets for IDF and ICVC engagements where measurement is part of the scope.
  • Conduct primary and secondary data collection, analysis, and reporting to investor-grade standards.
  • Package measurement outputs as standalone deliverables — not appendices to strategy documents.
  • Identify and convert standalone measurement mandates: fund impact reporting, programme evaluations, baseline and endline studies.
  • Stay current with impact measurement standards — IRIS+, IMP, GIIRS, and equivalents — and advise clients on which frameworks fit their reporting requirements.

Cross-portfolio intelligence

  • Synthesise findings and evidence across all Accelerator engagements into consolidated intelligence: what is working, for whom, at what cost, and under what conditions.
  • Build and maintain a knowledge base that captures reusable assets — frameworks, datasets, case studies, and sector-specific evidence — from every completed engagement. Every engagement should produce a reusable asset. You own the system that makes that happen and the quality standard it is held to.
  • Identify patterns in the portfolio that strengthen the offer: which client types convert fastest, which interventions generate the strongest returns, which geographies show the most traction.
  • Produce quarterly intelligence briefs covering portfolio-level insights and implications for strategy.
  • Own the donor and tender intelligence function: maintain a systematic view of active and upcoming funding opportunities relevant to the Accelerator’s two streams. This is an early operational priority — a structured weekly digest feeding the pipeline, not an ad hoc scan.

Sales enablement and competitive intelligence

  • Build and maintain the Accelerator's sales collateral: sector evidence packs, impact data sheets, and proof-of-concept case studies for both IDF and ICVC streams.
  • Conduct competitive landscape analysis — who else operates in our space, how they position, what they charge, where we are differentiated.
  • Track market trends in impact finance and value chain development that are relevant to pipeline development. Feed findings to the team.
  • Support proposal development with data, evidence, and impact methodology sections where required.

Qualifications

What you bring

To be considered for this role, you bring:

  • At least 8 years of experience in impact measurement, monitoring and evaluation, or related analytical roles — with a significant portion in a commercial or advisory context.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering impact measurement as a client-facing service, not just as internal reporting.
  • Familiarity with the impact investing and development finance landscape — understanding what DFIs and impact funds require from their portfolio companies and TA providers.
  • Experience synthesising evidence across multiple programmes or geographies into actionable insights.
  • Track record of producing high-quality analytical outputs under time pressure — reports, evidence reviews, data packs — to external standards.
  • Experience building or managing knowledge systems in a professional services or advisory context. A list of documents is not a knowledge base. You know the difference.

Additionally, we value:

  • Fluency in impact measurement frameworks: IRIS+, IMP, DCED, GIIRS, and at least one results-chain methodology.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Comfortable with both survey data and financial models.
  • Ability to translate complex evidence into clear, commercial-facing narratives.
  • Experience with knowledge management — building systems that people actually use, not just filing evidence.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted knowledge tools — document analysis, synthesis, search across large bodies of material. We are building AI-powered knowledge infrastructure and this role is its primary user.
  • English required. French or Portuguese an advantage.
