CDP Tra Vinh: Strengthening livelihoods through sustainable production
How is CDP Tra Vinh strengthening climate-resilient livelihoods through sustainable agriculture and improved market opportunities for farmers?
Abstract
The Community Development Project Tra Vinh (CDP Tra Vinh) was implemented by SNV from August 2023 to July 2026 in Duyen Hai Ward, Truong Long Hoa Ward, and Ngu Lac Commune, Vinh Long Province. The project aimed to strengthen local livelihoods through sustainable horticulture and aquaculture, more inclusive value chains, and greater economic opportunities for women. Working with farmers, including ethnic Khmer communities, women, local authorities, community organisations, businesses, and market actors, CDP Tra Vinh promoted climate-smart production, improved technical and business capacities, strengthened market linkages, and expanded access to finance. Over three years, the project engaged 1,174 local people. It delivered 41 training courses and three study tours for 556 farming households, established 15 demonstration models, and strengthened seven farmer groups with 201 members. It also supported market connections and OCOP certification for three local products. In parallel, 723 people participated in gender equality and women’s economic empowerment activities, while 70 women accessed support through the Women’s Economic Development Revolving Fund. Building on an earlier community development initiative focused on clean water and sanitation, the project helped create stronger foundations for resilient, inclusive, and sustainable local development beyond its lifetime.
