Development of national strategy for innovative financing in Indonesia
This study examines innovative financing options to strengthen climate resilience and biodiversity in Indonesia’s landscapes and seascapes.
Abstract
Drawing on interviews, focus group discussions, and document reviews, it maps 34 instruments across six mechanisms and identifies the need for clearer regulations, stronger capacity, and a practical implementation plan. Nationally, the study recommends Sustainable Corporate Financing and Market-Based Financing, supported by Indonesia’s development plan and existing pilots such as PES, REDD+, and sustainable supply chain financing. Regionally, Central Java can build on corporate financing, while Bangka Belitung and Central Sulawesi can use market-based approaches for conservation, restoration, and renewable energy.
