  • Abstract

The GESI stories booklet highlights SNV's efforts to address unequal power relations through targeted interventions for women, girls, persons with disabilities, and other marginalised groups. Transitioning from a GESI-responsive to a GESI-transformative approach, SNV aims to enhance the social position and rights of these groups, ensuring genuine and equal representation at all levels.

Embracing SNV’s 2030 inclusive empowerment pathway, the booklet highlights the lived experiences of women and young people leading growth in agri-food systems and clean energy access. By collaborating with communities and businesses, SNV empowers these groups to overcome socio-cultural barriers, inspire change, and negotiate improved gender relations. The emphasis on GESI-responsive upskilling and the recognition of contributions promotes inclusive mindsets among government and market actors.

The booklet also emphasises the untapped entrepreneurial potential of young women and men. SNV’s 2030 strategic framework prioritises creating opportunities and strengthening youth agency through employment and entrepreneurship in high-growth sectors. With a decade-long footprint in youth programmes across 13 countries, including Kenya, SNV has impacted over 600,000 young people globally. The booklet's impact stories illustrate how young entrepreneurs in Kenya are leading in agri-food, energy, and the circular economy, driving meaningful change and unlocking their potential.
