IPOMER
Mali,
concluded

The IPOMER project aims to contribute to improving the living conditions of vulnerable people, particularly youth, women and disabled people.
The IPOMER project (Professional Insertion Oriented towards Environmentally Responsible Trades) was designed to address high poverty rates and the lack of formal vocational qualifications in rural Mali. Operating in the Sikasso region, an area with high agricultural potential but significant poverty, the initiative focused on boosting employment for youth, women, and people with disabilities.
This is achieved through innovative traditional training and employment support. The project began in June 2014 in the Sikasso region (the circles of Sikasso and Bougouni) and will continue for 3 years.
Key Objectives
Skills Development: Implementing innovative training through traditional apprenticeships focused on "green" or environmentally responsible trades.
Professional Integration: Providing personalized support to facilitate the entry of vulnerable populations into economically promising and sustainable value chains.
Economic Resilience: Enhancing the living conditions of participants by aligning training with the specific needs of the private sector.
Project Components
Training Systems: The project established workshops for innovative trades, training 100 artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs to serve as inclusive tutors. It also equipped 60 production and processing cooperatives.
Personalised Support: A mobile support system was deployed, utilising 20 community insertion agents to guide 350 vulnerable youth toward stable employment.
Knowledge Management: Continuous monitoring, evaluation, and capitalisation of experiences were conducted to model integrated training-insertion systems for the region.
