European development cooperation organisations learn from implementation experience in Kenya  

Making PPPs work: a practical day to make your public–private partnerships more effective

Friday, 24 March 2023, Nairobi, Kenya: Leading European Development Network, The Practitioners' Network for European Development Cooperation (PN), has organised the first knowledge exchange visit to Kenya.

The objective of the visit is to share learnings and joint implementation experience across its members for more impactful future collaborations. The visit, which will be held between 28 – 31 March 2023 in and around Nairobi, Kenya, also creates an opportunity to discuss joint approaches to global and national challenges.

Sixteen member organisations will be in attendance during this year's visit. The organisations include AFD, AICS, British Council, CPMA, DANIDA, Enabel, Expertise France, FIIAPP, GIZ, Goethe Institut, MFA NL, RoAid, Sida, SlovakAid, SNV and the European Commission. All the organisations will be represented by their CEOs, focal points and local missions. During the visit, PN Members will visit jointly implemented projects and engage in learning sessions, focusing on enhancing joint implementation, climate adaptation and mitigation, energy, digitalisation, and green and inclusive job creation.

SNV and FIIAPP hold the PN co-Presidency for 2022-2023 and launched this initiative to strengthen relations with Kenyan partners and explore innovative opportunities for joint implementation.

On 29 March, the PN will co-host a High-Level Meeting with the Kenya Climate Innovation Centre. The keynote speakers will be Eng. Festus K. Ng'eno, Principal Secretary of Environment and Climate Change and Mr Alex K. Wachira, Principal Secretary of Energy. Jeff Koinange, an award-winning journalist and tv host, will moderate the meeting. The meeting seeks to create open conversations on opportunities for innovative partnerships toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals. It also seeks to support joint responses to global and national challenges linked to climate adaptation, energy transition, digitalisation, and green and inclusive job creation.

The PN is an open network of European development cooperation organisations with a public mission composed of 23 Members from 17 countries. The network is a platform for strategic exchange, coordination and harmonisation. It aims at strengthening cooperation, links and complementarity between European development players, creating synergies and partnerships with like-minded organisations and partners outside the network for inclusive and impactful development results with and in partner countries.
