OYE LSPs geared for training
SNV’s Opportunities for Youth Employment (OYE) continues to transform communities and the lives of young people including young women in the countries where we work.
OYE provides tools, networks, and linkages between skilled OYE youth and private sector players who in turn, offer the much needed market-based opportunities such as wage employment, internships and apprenticeships, markets and access to start-up capital for young people. OYE, in the spirit of ecosystem development, is in continued collaboration with national governments, the private sector, and related agencies, assuring sustainability and scale.
In September 2020, SNV Zambia’s OYE project hosted Local Service Providers (LSPs) in an orientation to kick-start youth trainings. Topics covered during the training included SNV projects, their targets and location areas, basic life skills, communication and professional behaviour. Other topics included customer care, leadership & diversity, conflict management and record keeping.
The orientation was interactive and each LSP was given an opportunity to present a topic. The participating LSPs included Syntech, Strattmore, Onmark Solutions, Creative Thinkers and Nuttri-Aid, among others.
Mr Robson Nyirenda, OYE Project Manger who facilitated the event, said ‘The LSP orientation was a great success. I am pleased that the LSPs from all over the country were able to participate. This will enable us to kick-start youth training in the various locations in topics which have been covered.’
SNV’s Opportunities for Youth Employment model is currently applied in eight countries and SNV Zambia’s OYE project was launched in July 2020.
