PG-HGSF Kenya: Improved school feeding planning through effective data collection

SNV's PG-HGSF project in Kenya, in collaboration with the Laikipia County Government, the Ministry of Education and aWhere, recently launched an extensive data management system to track and report on the status of primary schools and the home grown school feeding programme.

The data management system records school feeding data, including amounts of food bought in 2014, main school feeding suppliers, total funds disbursement by the government, food procurement modalities and the participation of parents. Furthermore, it records important background information on schools, including whether or not they have land titles, school infrastrcuture, enrolment numbers, numbers of teachers and student health.
